Confined Space Rescue

Rescuing victims in confined spaces such as sewers, underground vaults, caves, or collapsed buildings poses particular challenges, including oxygen deficient environments, hazardous materials, and small spaces that make it difficult and time-consuming to deploy rescue personnel and equipment.  MFPD personnel who specialize in confined space rescue, including trench and structural collapse, train in different types of locations that reflect the variety they might encounter in actual rescue situations.  For example, one training exercise involved navigating the inner and outer walls of a barge.
