The Mehlville Fire Protection District’s Transfer Division provides dedicated EMS transportation for patients who require transfer between medical facilities or other care settings. The division works in partnership with Mercy Hospital South to coordinate safe and efficient transportation based on each patient’s medical needs and level of care.

Established in May 2025, the Transfer Division is staffed by experienced Transfer Paramedics and PRNs who provide care throughout the transportation process. Working closely with medical professionals at Mercy Hospital South, the team helps ensure patients receive the appropriate level of medical care and support as they transition from one facility to another.

Transfers may include transportation from Mercy Hospital South to neighboring hospitals, rehabilitation facilities, skilled nursing facilities and other appropriate care settings. Each transfer is coordinated based on the patient’s condition, destination and medical needs.

The dedicated Transfer Division also serves an important role within the District’s overall EMS system. By providing a specialized resource for interfacility transportation, Transfer crews help ensure Mehlville Fire’s emergency response units remain available for 911 calls throughout the community.

Since beginning operations in May 2025, the Transfer Division has completed more than 2,000 patient transports, providing an important link between hospitals and care facilities throughout the region.
