Mehlville Fire Protection District Is Hiring a Social Media and Office Administrator!

The Social Media and Office Administrator position will oversee the social media, office administrative needs, special projects for the District. This position reports directly to the District Chief with a Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm work schedule. Mehlville Fire Protection District is a great place to work. Join our team!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages the social media platform for the District
  • Assists the Fire Chief with special projects and communications
  • Liaison to the Board of Directors and prepares for Board meetings
  • Acts as District’s Election Official
  • Performs District Clerk and administrative duties as necessary

Specific Job Tasks:

Social Media (40-50%)

  • Manages and provides content for the District’s website and social media channels including Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn
  • Writes new, timely, relevant, and engaging content
  • Develops strategies to promote community education as well as employee and community engagement
  • Works closely with media consultants for the planning, writing, and scheduling of posts
  • Monitors and responds to comments and direct messages in a timely manner
  • Keeps up to date and informed on new social media trends and adapt accordingly
  • Photographs and videos District events for media platforms

Administrative Support (25-30%)

  • Works closely with the Mobile Integrated Health department on special projects
  • May assist other departments as needed
  • Books travel and conference registrations for the EMS division
  • Prepares documents and reports
  • Establishes and maintains confidential files
  • Coordinates special events
  • Performs other duties as assigned

District Clerk (10-15%)

  • Prepares agendas and packets for bi-weekly Board meetings
  • Attends Board meetings to record official minutes and prepare formal minutes
  • Notarizes documents for the District

Authorized Election Official (10%)

  • Acts as authorized election official for the District ensuring state regulations are followed
  • Prepares for elections by advertising for candidate filing, prepares candidate packets, accepts candidate filings, prepares, and delivers Certification of Candidates, advertises for the election, and approves ballot language
  • Consolidates and files budgets, resolutions, and disclosures with the Missouri Ethics Commission

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma required; degree in Communications or Marketing preferred
  • Previous experience in social media management a plus
  • Previous experience in a lead administrative position a plus

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office and Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Working knowledge of social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn) and media management (Facebook Meta Business Suite and Hootsuite) preferred
  • Basic photography, videography, and editing experience
  • Exceptional organizational, written, and oral communication skills
  • Excellent time management, adaptability, judgment, and decision-making skills
  • Highly collaborative and team-oriented
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work closely with the public and represent the District with courtesy and poise
  • Valid driver’s license with dependable transportation
  • Currently a Certified Notary Public or willing to become a Certified Notary Public
